sir i'm in mechanical branch but i was very interested in computer science can i become software engineers like computer science students

If you don't have options then you can choose Robotics in your Mtech if you will go for higher study so focus on your studies and get good marks and keep studying computers like a side subject . .
I will also advise you to change your stream if possible, money is not a big issue if we are talking about career . .you have option of changing stream in this semester after this year you won't have any option so think and make a decision.

GNIIT from NIIT is a good course to pursue software engineering. There are some Universities that permit cross streams for PG. CAD/ Software testing is also a good course to pursue.

it depands on u n ur potential u r doing m.e. but u want computer science.in which year u r studying?if u like cse more than m.e. then change it if u can otherwise do m.e. and try side by side courses related to computer.that is a big field like if u want to be programmer then u have to do prog. languages like java ,c , c++ any many more if u want to go database then sql , oracle is there and web design is also a field.so think about it and then take deceason
