It is near to impossible to distinguish between these two streams as they have a little academic relationship, choosing civil or chemical engineering career depends on your interest. Civil branch has better scope in government jobs but for that you have to go through the competitive exams like IES or else you will get low paid salary at starting. In chemical, you can get good salaried jobs in private companies.
