It is completely open for you to choose any stream that interests you, given that you are intelligent and have a variety of options. For such gifted students, the job chances are the same (who get to choose disciplines rather than allotted)
If you are a student in a respectable institution and are above average, Mech/Elec/E&C/E&I/Chem are all good options. Given the current infrastructural binge in the nation, even peaceful discourse is preferable.
