you need not drop for the preparation of iit untill ur very much confident of ur concepts

What i understand from your question is dropping an uear for preparing for IIT . If it is the target and if you have the confidence that you are going to crack Sear in engg either through IIT/AIEE/or through any state uni then you can go for a drop and prepare for your iit with total concentration.
