Someone told me not to join lpu. Is lpu not good in placement and package in CSE?

No, LPU is a very renowned and big university with huge infrastructure. Moreover, placements for CSE students are awesome. I would say LPU is the best private university for CSE student due to placement records and ample opportunities that it provides to students.

LPU's placement is completely dependent upon the student's academic performance. If you will be eligible for the placement i.e. no reappears or backlogs, get assured you are getting placement from the campus itself.
