There are nearly 10,000 seats for B.Tech in IITs then why have they selected 50,000 students in the year 2017?

30000 students were selected, not 50000. There are other institutes than IITs like RGIPT, IIPE, IIST and ISCER giving admission on the basis of JEE Advanced. In fact, IIPE took rank around 30000 in its 2nd round and RGIPT took around 20000 in 2017.
