You should go for Ph.D, as there are more career scope after pursuing Ph.D. But before that you will also require to qualify the UGC NET Exam which is conducted by NTA to select the candidates for the post of assistant professor. It will lead you to get complete information about the exam. Once you clear the UGC NET Exam, then you can also apply for Ph.D.

With M.Phil also, you can however puruse it. Ph.D is obviously more advanced than M.Phil, and you get a doctor's title in the respective course, you will be more respected, considered the ultimate and given the topmost packages, so I suggest Ph.D. The dean of the college will also value you more than anyone else. Hope this helps.
