Interested in VFX field, but heard that only institutions make money out of it not the workers. And plus, I'm SCST. I need a salary above 50K. I can get it through studying in engineering in which I'm not interested. I have interest in computers and VFX. Vid by me - http://bit.ly/1EQK1Ia
Bharat, creative fields are not for people who are looking for salary numbers. If you have the passion you may find wealth, but you dont go looking for it. People dont write books because they want to get on the best sellers list and make fortunes. They do it because they want to tell something. Same goes for other creative people. Yes, it's true that many companies and vfx artists dont make much money since they try for the bottom end - that is labour jobs. Good artists work in ad agencies where they are needed to deliver an idea. Wish you the best for your career. If you like this answer you may select it as best answer or press like

Bharat, VFX is a field of applying your design knowledge to create pleasing effects to highlight and progress the story. So typically a VFX person either comes from animation or film making. The lower end staff comes from graphics. Now, ideally a Course in either Animation or Film Making would qualify you to then take VFX as a specialization and also ensure that you stand on firm ground. Do not focus on what the certification is called, but search more on the learnings from the course. Something like VFX Pro at Arena or similar specialized course from elsewhere can be good. Only check if the faculty is of that level. Placement in VFX is better in South India because of Multiple regional film industries. It could be good in Hyderabad and Chennai besides the usual options in Mumbai which supports the Hindi as well as north region film industries. Technical Director is the best post for a VFX Artist. And low end are Rotoscoping and Wireframe removal artists. Alternatively, like in Programming where after BCA you go for MCA to be accomplished, you may like to pick up superior skills to enter the industry. I would suggest VFX Pro (with Nuke and Houdini). Unfortunately there are very few Houdini trainers in India. and that is also an opportunity for you since when you become one of the first few people trained in Houdini you can break the industry. And finding a job is easy since at least a huge number of houdini trainers are required and you can also become a trainer before moving into the industry - that is how most of the first movers gain a foothold. Arena Chandigarh 17 definitely has a Houdini Trainer right now since he trained in England and did nis Masters in VFX from Bournemoth University covering a similar course program. So if you can move to chandigarh to learn, you can make use of this wonderful opportunity. Wish you the best for your career. Remember, your Career is a resultant of your knowledge combined with your passion and expression ability. If you like this answer you may select it as best answer or press like.
