if you want to build up vocab for entrances tests, i would suggest you to do Norman lewis which teaches prefix-suffix-root system. once finished, take up GRE Barrons and finish its 3500 word list which even shows usage of words.

You read correct usage English of OXFORD.There are many books to read but its of no use until you go through the newspaper everyday.so if you want to improve you vocabulary read English newspaper everyday.
