What are backlogs? Are they no of attempts or no of subjects?how Canadian immigration considered backlogs exactly?

Backlogs are the subject students fail to clear in their courses. For example, if you failed on one subject during your undergraduate, that will be considered one backlog.
please explain further what exactly you mean by "What are the number of attempts or subjects to apply for Canada?"

hlo mam, for e.g if in a Bachelor degree one subject can't be cleared in next Semester .....and student has to retake it again more than one time then is it considered as backlog or not
