Pre-placement offer is PPO and Pre-placement Interview is PPI. Both are different from normal placements. The important factor to be noted is that both are a part of job placement.
In some colleges, students will go for internships in between their course. They will get an internship of 2-3 months, some extend it to 6 months.
They have enough opportunities in this 2-3 months to showcase their talent and skills. They will be able to know how the same company works. If that student is found apt for the company, they will ask him or her to attend a pre-placement interview and finally, they offer a job opportunity to him.
    But in normal placemen

    Hi,
During normal placement process, the usual structure followed is this.
    1. Applying for the company/ expressing your interest.
    2. Shortlisting of few candidates by the company
    3. Group discussion/ Case discussion of shortlisted candidates
    4. Shortlisting of fewer candidates from Step 3
    5. Personal Interview
When a person gets PPI (Pre-placement Interview) he/she is fast-tracked to the stage 5 (interview) eliminating all the other stages.
And when a person gets PPO (Pre-Placement Offer) he is directly given a placement offer.
PPI/PPOs are generally given to the candidates whom companies have had a chance to examine through the means of summer

PPO stands for Pre-Placements Offer and PPI stands for Pre-Placements Interview.
The concept of PPO is pretty simple. Most of the students go to various firms for summer internships. If they work really good and impress the superiors then they get a job offer from the same company at the end of the internship. Generally, only 30-40% of total students who go for internships get such PPOs. This is beneficial for both the parties. The candidate now already has a job in hand and may not need to sit for the placement and the company gets a deserving candidate. Generally, companies offer a bit more package in the PPOs to make sure that the gu

PPO refer to "Pre Placement Offers" and PPI refer to " Pre Placement Interview". In top B-Schools like IIM, XLRI, SPJIMR, JBIMS, NMIMS, FMS, MDI, NIT, IIT, etc., students who do their internship are usually highly paid and they are bagging the placement offers from their internship companies respectively. With an increase in the number of internships, they are able to get their offers from the companies which are training them for over 2- 3 months in the summer or autumn (SPJIMR).
So, there is no big difference in PPO/PPI but just it is that they usually get PPO more frequently as compared to other level B-Schools in the country.
