What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at University of Glasgow?

<p>According to a student from Glasgow, following are some helpful tips for the first year students.</p><ul><li>GU union is better than QM union. Majority opinion. Membership gives cheap entry to Hive (a nightclub).</li><li>Make some friends on your course. If you miss a lecture they can fill you in.</li><li>If you want a good seat in the library at exam time (with an electric socket) get there before 9.</li><li>There are free teabags etc. available on floor 10 of library, courtesy of a caring librarian.</li><li>Join as many societies as you like. It's a great way to make friends outside your course.</li><li>Murano is a good Hall for a party but you might regret that during exam time.</li><li>If you live in Cairncross Hall, you will always smell like Cairncross.</li><li>Wolfson Hall is far from the Uni unless you're a vet student, but apparently you get a free bus pass.</li><li>The Brasserie- underneath Kelvin Galleries - is a little known gem for lunch or coffee.</li><li>If you are short of cash, The Cript, below the church across from the memorial gates is good for lunch. If you go late they give unsold food away for free.</li></ul>
