We can't say IIM-Ahmedabad is charging very much, but among the IIMs it is on a bit higher side. The facilities provided at IIM-A are really good as compared to any other college. IIM-A has world-class infrastructure in terms of classrooms, dormitories, computer centre, library and sports facilities. The world-class infrastructure created on the institute's hundred-acre campus provides an ambience conducive to stimulating learning. The architecture, classrooms, library, research centres and computing facilities all combine to provide a holistic learning environment.

IIM-A doesn't alone charge higher fees. All the top three IIMs charge higher fees than other IIMs.
The fees for different IIMs (Top) are as follows: -
1. IIM, Ahmedabad - Rs 19.5 lakhs.
2. IIM, Calcutta - Rs 19 lakhs.
3. IIM, Bangalore - Rs 18.7 lakhs.
4. IIM, Lucknow - Rs 14 lakhs.
5. IIM, Khozikode - Rs 13.75 lakhs.
6. IIM, Indore - Rs 13 lakhs.
So as you can see the fees is decreasing as the rank of IIMs are decreasing with a bit variation.
According to me it is perfectly justified for IIM A/B/C to charge more as they provide much better facilities and opportunities to its students.
