What are the advantages and disadvantages of disc recording over tape recording?

Disc recording is more durable than tape, offers better sound quality (especially vinyl one), and lets you skip tracks easily. But it's fragile scratches can ruin it and not very portable. Tapes are more rugged for travel but wear out faster and are harder to navigate.
