What are the advantages of doing a course in interior designing after B.Arch? Is it recommended?

Hello, I don't think there is any added advantage of doing a course in interior design after Bachelors in Architecture, since and an Architecture Graduate would already be equipped with basics of Interior design. Yes if your interest and passion lies in interior design and you want to work as an interior designer than an architect then you can pursue a course in interior design which would enhance your skill set. An Architecture student passing out from any college has following opportunities which also includes Interior design, He/She may wish to be Entrepreneurs Architects (Junior/ Senior) Furniture design Photography Construction& Community based volunteering Infrastructure development Graphic design Set Design Jewelry design Advance research in Architecture Faculty @ School of Architecture History, Restoration and Preservation Interior design Product design Landscape Design Project/ Construction Management I would say if you have a passion in the field of interior designing, then only you should be opting for a added course in interior design.

Architecture and interior designing go hand in hand. Think of it in this fashion: the building is the human body and the interiors are the clothes that we wear to look good and be comfortable. Well, I think you might have guessed where I am going with this. If you've successfully completed B.Arch degree you certainly have a design aptitude in you. It is not necessary that you go for Masters in interior, but it will certainly add a great deal of value to your design abilities and hence the final product. Many people might say that it's not required and that you can learn about it in a few years of practice in an office, which is true. But then that would be different from a professional education. Precisely, the difference between a draftsman and a designer. He knows the technical know how too after working for many years in an office, but can he design?

Interior designing is the art and approach to beautifying the internal spaces of a building that make the overall ambience more appealing and healthier.with the changing time every person wishes to possess a home/office/building that is unique as these buildings are also considered as an identity status of their lifestyle. As an architect, one is not only responsible to create a building plan, but also focus on the needs of the client for internal spaces. In cases of theme restaurants/offices, etc. The internal spaces are the prime requirements hence a course in interior design will enhance the performance of plans, the overall ambience will be much more appealing and the externals can be planned and designed as per the future interior design themes that are required. NIT will definitely be a plus point for one to pursue a course in interior design leading to a large number of satisfied clients higher salaries.
