What are the benefits of pursuing B.Tech in mechatronics engineering as compared to mechanical engineering?

Mechatronics is a relatively new field. It is being offered at a lesser number of colleges. This ensures that the number of graduates passing out of colleges each year is not too high. Thus, it is safe to say that job market saturation level is not that high, in the case of mechatronics field! Also, it is one of the fastest developing fields, with new areas of applications and job opportunities being introduced quickly.
