what are the books that can help me to crack post graduate mass communication entrance exams

Hi, There is no such specific mantra to crack the entrance. All you need to do is keep yourself updated with the current affairs!

Hi Shormishtha, There are many books and other text references that you can refer for the preparation of the entrance exams. As there are main sections constituted with GK and Current Affairs, hence you can opt for Manorama year book or Pratiyogita Darpan / Success Mirror etc. Please revert for any further queries. Shormistha, I am giving you different perspective. First you give the answer why do you want to do Mass Comm course as you are commerce graduate. I found many students who did not plan and just joined mass comm course but got puzzled wht to do after doing this course. After doing this course there is no gurantee you will be accomodated in media industry. First you answer few questions: Is your oral and written communication good? can you write 3-4 paragaphs on any given topic? Do you have passion or belly fire to join media industry? Do you think only reporting and anchoring is the only media job? Do you have mind set to read widely? etc. After going through all the aspects then decide which course would be better. For you there may other option too like PG Diploma in Event Management and PR, Advertisement and PR, Media Planning, Social Media PR. Do such course which could enhance you employablility. However, if you think, it is worthwhile to join media couse then there is no such prescribed book to crack entrance exam. There are many books in market but are useless. If you have habit of reading newspare and magazine and can write on current topic. You can crack entrance and interview otherwise books are not going to help much.

Hi Shormishtha, As you are a B.Com graduate I would request you to think about this decision again as both the fields are totally different from each other and belong to totally different domains. Few good colleges like IIMC, XIC, MICA etc. conduct their own entrance exams so i cannot assure the exact pattern but i can provide you all that you need to prepare. So starting with media i would suggest you to go through the newspapers everyday and make a note of all the good articles or important news that you come across. You have to mug up the punch lines of various good and famous brands and also their Brand ambassadors, mug up the punch lines of various good news channels because they might ask it. Also if possible try and read few books on GK and Current affairs, if you want you can refer to Manorama year Book which is a nice book for GK and Current affairs. Apart from all these you also have to practice a lot on writing articles because they might give you any topic to write or also a picture that you need describe so you need to write it in a creative manner and for that you need to think out of the box. Other than these you may also prepare on reading comprehension, grammar, etc. At the end I would say that the entrance is not that difficult and you can clear it easily and the interview depends on your caliber.
