What are the career & job prospects in India for Air Cargo Management?

The Aviation sector has been providing numerous job opportunities to graduates in India. In the past, in case of India, there weren’t many courses that focused on the aviation sector and groomed students to take on roles in that sector. Usually, Graduates of any discipline used to apply for aviation jobs. They used to get trained after they were selected after an interview. At present, things have changed! There are many aviation sector oriented courses present, which cater to the needs of the aviation Industry! In this article, I will list some of the best Aviation field related courses, which students may pursue after finishing their class 12th schooling. BBA course: It is a 3 year long Undergraduate management program. The good news is that many BBA programs allow students to specialize in certain area/discipline. In our case, it is a program that focuses on the running and management of an Airport. If one is keen on improving ones qualifications, then he/she may also go for an MBA Degree after completing this BBA program. Diploma course lasts for 1 year and focuses solely on the area of Airport Management. While it does a better job in dealing with the technical details, when compared to BBA program, I must also admit that this Diploma Degree doesn’t possess as much value as the BBA program does. A good way to solve this problem is by going for a Post Graduate Diploma in Airport Management after finishing any Graduation course.

Skilled persons working in Cargo Management are designated as Cargo Agent. They manage shipments for transportation companies, air transportation agencies or courier businesses. Cargo agents are responsible for analyzing and securing the documentation, transportation, and delivery of materials. The work of a cargo agent may be physically demanding and might involve moving or lifting cargo items. To be eligible for Cargo Agent, one needs to complete graduation or post-graduation in Airport Management, Aviation Management or course in air hostess. Work experience is of great importance in this field. Hence a good skilled training is of much importance in this field. In India, airline transportation is increasing at a great pace hence need of cabin crew members will increase in future. Currently, top airlines of India like Spice Jet, Indigo, Air India, Jet Airways are recruiting cabin crew members periodically. The salary for this role generally ranges from 30-50k, for pilots, it is higher ranging 60k-1 l/month. Cabin crew members in International flights have higher pay and perks.

<p>Hello, The fact of increase in passenger traffic in India is told by almost every one. But increase in cargo traffic is going unnoticed by general public. As per IATA, air cargo movement out of India and into India is registering growth year after year. To take care of this increased traffic there is an increased demand for professionals in this field.</p><p>They need to know about different rules and regulations about movement of live cargo, dangerous cargo and perishable cargo besides normal cargo. It's very vast field of study. With this increase, job prospects too have increased exponentially in this area of aviation. Hence it can be definitely said that air cargo movement in and out of India is likely to grow in future also and along with it the requirement of specialist also is going to increase.</p>

With the rapid growth of flight passengers in India, the need of air cargo managers are increasing at the same rate. The Air Cargo Managers/workers are those individuals who are responsible to place the luggage and bags inside and outside the aeroplane. They lift heavy items (majorly done through specially build machines), transportation, and management of passenger’s items. All these requires a basic Education at all. Having Diploma is sufficient enough to enter in this field. The job involves heavy lifting, working in all types of weather, and evening, holiday and weekend shifts. Air cargo handlers need good communications skills, an understanding of how a load should be balanced and the ability to drive transport vehicles. Starting salary could be as low as Rs. 15,000/- per month. But, with the regular practice and consistent good performance may shoot up your salary to Rs. 35,000 or Rs. 40,000/- per month. Hence, the course in Air Cargo Management may give you a bright career with applying a little efforts.
