What are the career & job prospects in India for Programming?

Hi, one approach is to start with computer science fundamentals: a programming language, algorithms/data structures, discrete math. Another approach is to focus more on learning one programming language well. Once you're proficient at one language, the next one will be easier (just like learning natural languages). Some programming fundamentals stick with you across languages. If you can't decide, go with the programming language approach. If you don't have a favorite language, go with JavaScript or Python. Don't worry too much about different fields or topics. For your first job, it's not very important what your background is. No one who is looking for an entry-level programming job has very much real-world experience. But the more programming time (in any language) you have under your belt the better. All the best.

India is the largest exporter for Software Application Development and Maintenance (ADM) in the world. Indian ADM business is approximately 60% of Indian software exports. In addition, slowly India is become the hub for IT product development also being called product development outsourcing capital. Also, with Make in India initiative maximum startups in E-Commerce products has extensive Information technology component. These all require professionals with software development or programming skills. Therefore, the requirement of highly qualified and experienced IT professionals with programming skills will never dry. Indian IT industry is continuously looking for excellent skill programmers who can write efficient code. If you want to take up only technical programming roles then you may obtain industry-specific certifications in programming to join in developer beside computer science or information technology graduation degree. Good programmers are able to grow as team leaders, project managers, architect, etc.

Programmers work closely with software developers, and in some businesses their duties overlap. When such overlap occurs, programmers can do work that is typical of developers, such as designing the program. Program design entails planning the software initially, creating models and flowcharts detailing how the code is to be written, writing and debugging code, and designing an application or systems interface. Programmers often use an IDE, which allows them to create, edit, and test code. Without coding softwares are not imaginable. In India IT companies have lots of opportunities for good programmers. Languages like R, Python, JAVA, PHP and UNIX are some of the high demand programming languages. Pay scales for fresh graduates in with good programming skills range from 3-5 LPA and upside is immense.

A good knowledge in programming languages would let you work as a Computer programmer. They work in many fields but predominantly in offices as salaried employees who do coding, write, design, debug, troubleshoot, etc. They also customize computer programs which are purchased from vendors. As a Programmer, one must have thorough knowledge of languages like Java/Java EE, C, C+, C#, .NET, JavaScript, and other programming languages relevant to the job, and strong written and verbal communication skills are also important. They must be able to work in a team environment and always stay up-to-date with new technologies and programming languages that become available. The jobs are mainly available in the IT sector in the companies like Cognizant, Wipro, TCS, Infosys, etc. and for jobs in the other private or public sectors, they need to clear the respective entrance exams. The starting salary for a Bachelor’s degree graduate would be around 20,000-40,000 per month while for a post graduate or a person with good amount of work experience can very well earn 60,000-1,00,000 per month or even more.
