If you take FPGA used for implementing DSP applications, you need knowledge of DSP algorithms. But the challenge is more towards designing the hardware than writing algorithms for filters which is not tough as there is a lot of references already available. Most of the engineering jobs related to DSP do not actually require that much mathematics which is generally taught in the curriculum. There is more expectation of writing C/MATLAB synthesized codes. So yes, to an extent the challenges seem to be more in RF for communications or designing chips for it. However, if you pick up Machine learning and focus more on algorithms, then your...more

Signal processing deals with the analysis, study, interpretation and manipulation of digital and analog signals. The signals may be audio image video, ECG and EEG signals captured by communication receivers, seismic signals, etc. Hence, signal processing techniques are finding important applications in wide areas of technology ranging from wired and wireless communication to multimedia processing to medical diagnosis to earth quake prediction, etc.
Signal Processing experts have job opportunities as designer, research assistants, operation, maintenance, quality engineers in following organisations in India:
(a) Research organization suc...more -
Hi,
To be honest, there is some truth to points you have mentioned. Signal processing alone cannot help you design any system.

If you cannot generate passion towards Signal Processing, the scope and opportunities are non-existent. You should only be teaching in an engineering college, if so, after doing M.Tech.
However, if you have the passion for it and want to do M.Tech because of that, the opportunities are endless. From Radar Signal Processing in BEL to designing analog circuits for the semiconductor biggies, there are plenty of jobs needing people who have deep understanding of signals and how to bring out the best in the least cost. They would expect deep knowledge of practical signals and dynamics. -
Signal processing is a discipline that manipulates and analyses signals after they are processed, properly interpreted and amplified. It is an industry that is worth billions of dollars and it expanding day after day. Since digital processing is used in a wide range of applications, signal processing engineer jobs in India are booming.
To make a career in signal processing, candidates must be aware of languages like C+, C and assembly level programming.
Job prospects:
This field offers wide range of job opportunities in both public and private sectors.
When it comes to private jobs in this field, tech-corporates like Intel, Motorola, Texa...more
