What are the career prospects after engineering in IT?

Well, I want to get into CS field but with my rank that I got in the Entrance Exam, I don't think that I'll get CSE branch. But I may get IT branch easily. So I wanted to know, Is IT a good choice for engineering (keeping in mind its future demands and scope) ?
