What are the career prospects in India and Abroad for MBA Product Management?

Organisations are spending larger and larger portions of their budget on developing new products or maintaining competitive edge of their existing product portfolio by continuing upgrade in the product lifecycle. Product management is an organisational lifecycle function within a company dealing with the planning, forecasting, and production, or marketing of a product or products at all stages of the product lifecycle. Similarly, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) integrates people, data, processes and business systems. MBA in product management is a niche area MBA where syllabus includes the concept of PLM from conception to closure of product. The course includes courses in market analysis, brand management, strategic marketing, consumer behavior/strategy, marketing communications, product development, basics of financial management, project management, and corporate governance. MBA in product management students are exposed to techniques of problem-solving and creative thinking to generate new ideas of products. Students are exposed to all aspects of product marketing which includes assessing product demand, evaluating targeted customers and placement of new product in the competitive market and forecasting revenue generation. Product Lifecycle Management courses are major where all processes are taught from idea generation, product development, product maintenance, and support. MBA product management is offered by very limited universities and B-Schools. Companies prefer technical resources with experience in the role of product manager. This course is ideally suited for experienced technical resources who want to grow in Product Manager roles.
