What are the courses available after 12th Science? How to pursue a career in Geology?

    To pursue a career in Geology, you need to pass B.Sc. (Hons.) Geology / B.Sc. Applied Geology / B.Sc. Geology.
    To be eligible for graduate courses, you need to pass 10+2 with 50% in Science stream from a recognized board.
    One can break into the field with a Bachelor's degree but advanced study is highly recommended. So, after graduation you may opt for courses such as :
    -M.Sc. Agrometerology
    -M.Sc. Applied Geology
    -M.Sc. Applied Geology (Tech.)
    -M.Sc. Geology
    -M.Sc. Geology (Hons)

    2. Procedure to make a career in Geology-
    *XII (PCM) Graduate degree in Geology . Admission to university courses is merit based
    *XII (with PCM) IIT Kharagpur admits students through JEE to 5 year Integrated program in Exploration Geophysics
    *After B.Tech/BE/M.Sc and Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) admission is made to the 3 semester M Tech in Geology and Geophysics in IIT
    *You can also enter through UPSC.

    There are many course options available after 12th Science. You must opt for the one which matches your interest and skills as it will help you to achieve your long term career goal.
    * After 12th in Science with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, you may go for engineering courses such as civil, mechanical, electronics etc. You may even opt for architecture.

A gap of 1 to 2 years after 12th can be considered normal. Although the students should be able to address it via the valid documents. The reasons like health, finance, skill development or family are accepted. 

And if the gap after the high school Diploma is beyond 2 years, strong documentation is required to justify the same. The documents like which shows productivity for which an SOP can serve great purposes.
