Horticulture (Fruit Science) programmes are accredited to ICAR by the National Agricultural Education Board of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, an autonomous body responsible for coordinating agricultural education and research in India. Accreditation is done to ensure the quality of higher agricultural education in Agricultural Universities and their constituent colleges. The University/ institution/programme is critically evaluated by a group of experts as per approved guidelines of the Council. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) is an autonomous organisation under the Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE), Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India. There is a total of 4 deemed universities, 3 central universities, and 64 state universities. LPU is a well-renowned university. It is recognised by UGC and also it has got the ICAR accreditation. It is the first private university to be accredited by The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR). LPU School of Agriculture is among Punjab and India's Best Agriculture colleges.
