    • It is an objective-type exam which is qualifying in nature.
    • It comprises 150 questions of 200 marks.
    • It is of 3 hours duration.
    • It is conducted offline as a screening test to shortlisted candidates for the Mains exam. 
    • The marks obtained by candidates in the prelims exam are not counted in the final merit list.
