    The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and National Institutes of Technology (NITs) are India's the finest technical colleges, but they differ in important ways. IITs are autonomous national institutes with a global reputation for excellent academic standards, cutting-edge research, and a very competitive entrance exam.     National Institutes of Technologies take admission through the Joint Entrance Examination Main rank, whereas Indian Institutes of Technology take admission through the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced rank. 31 National Institutes of Technologies totaling approximately 18K seats and 23 Indian Institutes of Technologies totaling approximately 10500 seats. When it comes to the quality of education provided, the Indian Institute of Technology is ahead of the National Institutes of Technology. Indian Institutes of Technology doesn't have a state quota, while the National Institutes of Technology do have a 50 percent state quota.
