    The main difference between geophysics and applied geophysics is the purpose of their research. 

    Geophysics: also known as pure geophysics, this field studies the Earth's physical properties and processes to gain information and develop theories.
    Applied Geophysics: This field uses the information and methods gained from geophysics to address real-world problems.
    Geophysics is used in many industries, including oil and gas, mining, environmental consulting, infrastructure development, and space exploration.
