What are the government job opportunities after completing a course in radio jockeying?

Radio Jockeying is a course which makes a candidate capable of voice modulation as well as bring in immediate changes in the script - as and when required. While most of the radio jockeys prefer private jobs as they give an opportunity to explore their creativity better, but government job opportunities also come handy. One of the best opportunities being working as a radio jockey at All India Radio (AIR) - a Public Service Broadcaster. But one should be ready beforehand that this is not a commercial channel and deals strictly with news/public service information. Another avenue of government job after completing a radio jockey course can be opened if a person has a Master’s Degree/Ph.D or clears NET. Once either of these check boxes are ticked, one can take up the job of a professor/assistant professor in government colleges/universities and teach the students here.

The role of a Radio Jockey (RJ) is to inform, update and entertain. Also known as Radio DJs, their work involves presenting various music programmes and entertaining the audience. It is very important for an RJ to be spontaneous, and have a pleasing, friendly personality. A good voice and a strong command over language is always essential. A degree in any field is a pre-requisite. A number of institutes also offer courses in communication and broadcasting Though the work is to just speak and entertain, it is not that easy to do so. One needs to be very active and healthy in speaking and interacting. There are many private radio broadcasting stations to work as an RJ while in government sectors there are notably only a few. But there are many other opportunities that one can take over in the public sector being an RJ. The well-known government radio is the AIR (All India Radio), which has been entertaining the masses for years. So, this would be a good platform. Other than that, one can work as a teacher/lecturer in the government institutes, that are for mass communication, journalism and also for radio jockeying.
