What are the government job opportunities after completing a UG/PG course in Economics ?

There is a huge scope of this subject, economics. There are two branches of economics Micro and Macro Economic in which they study detailed information about market policy, share, finance and urban planning. Economics graduates can find job opportunities in Indian Economic Service. They can also work in the share market for keeping their views on market investment. Economic graduates can get a job in PSUs, BPOs, KPOs or in government and private banks. They can also get jobs in multinational companies for controlling their business policy. They can also get a job of a newspaper journalist. A good opportunity is also waiting for economic students in higher education. One can pursue Ph.D in economics to enter into the field of teaching in colleges and universities. Economics graduate can get an average salary job of Rs 4 lakhs per annum and it increases with experience.

There are numerous job opportunities for economics graduate in both government and the private sector. Since you've asked about government job opportunities, I will keep this answer limited to government jobs only. An economic postgraduate can apply for prestigious Indian Economic Services and become a research officer or an economic advisor. A student with post graduation in economics can also write UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) or SET (State Eligibility Test) and apply for an associate professor position in any university across the country. A graduate in economics can pursue B.Ed and become an economics faculty in a government school. A graduate in economics can also apply for RBI, IBPS and SBI exams. Apart from fields related to economics, an economics graduate is eligible for every other government exam such as UPSC, State PSC, SSC, Railways.
