    A graduate of English literature is eligible to apply for these posts. A few of the main exams are held by the SSC and the UPSC. Those who wish to apply for the position of teachers or lecturers can apply for the UGC CSIR (NET) or the SET exam. The defense service is one such area that takes in students after they have completed their graduation. Other areas where they can get jobs include the Police, agriculture, transportation or in the area of private investigation.     English literature is very niche specialization and has seen some very specific roles especially into Public Sector or Government funded organization.
    Some major roles seen are into:-
    1. Translator for Foreign Embassy
    2. Narrator for Foreign Embassy
    3. Supreme Court Lawyers (LLB is must)
    4. Armed forces personnel
    5. Civil service workers
    6. Health service workers.
    7. Teachers at Government schools
    8. Education Counsellors at Rural Schools
    9. Education Ministry Positions (PG plus work experience is must)

    Hi,
    There are plenty of jobs available for students who have completed their graduation in English Literature. They can become narrators; find jobs with newspapers, become lawyers and much more. But, if they wish to get job with the government, they can find that there are many jobs available in that direction too. Apart from this, the opportunities for students to get jobs as teachers with public sector schools and colleges are high.

    There are many government job opportunities for both graduate and postgraduate in English and Literature.
    A graduate in English and literature can apply for various exams conducted by central and state governments, PSUs such as UPSC (Union Public Service Commission), SSC (Staff Selection Commission), IBPS and SBI PO, Indian Railways and become grade one or grade two officers in the government.
