Generally, students after doing MD enter into residency. So the most common job prospect is a resident physician. Fresh MD graduates can earn between $60,000 and $70,000 in residency. After completing residency their salary can range from $200,000 to $300,000. A resident's salary is majorly dependent on specialisation and experience. For example, an MD specializing in Cardiology will have an average salary of $490,000 whereas for a radiation oncologist, it is $548,625.

Besides residency graduates can also opt for public health organizations, government agencies, and NGOs and the salary depends on employer and job role.
