Agricultural engineering is comparatively a newer branch but still has decent job prospects.
Government Departments where graduates may find jobs are Food Department, Research Departments, Dairy Boards (State wise), Coir Board, etc.
When it comes to the private sector, Fertilizer firms, Research and development firms, Agriculture Machinery manufacturing firms, Food Products Processing and Manufacturing firms, etc., are the prime recruiters.
Some agricultural engineers can look towards NGOs working in rural areas. Those interested in research activities can join IARI as the junior fellow researcher.

India is agriculture based country. More than 90 percent of the grains consumed in India are produced by itself only. The drawback of the lack of popularity and number of people indulged in India are very less because especially Indians don't find it so good or a low-class work but do not feel that farming and agriculture industry is the only industry which never gets any loss. Always the products are sold and consumed in the market within the most populous country in the world after China.
Only, there is a need to change the system. It should be converted to a more industry-oriented field rather than a labour-oriented field.

As far as the concept of agricultural engineering is concerned, it is not very common in India currently, but it is on pace of growing. So, it is expected to grow as per the current scenario.
India is an agriculture based country. It is one of the sectors that mostly contribution to GDP. So, if you are an engine in the field, you will be able to gain more growth.
Career in the various agriculture companies like IFFCO, NFL, and other private firms which manufacturing of fertilizer and pesticides. It is the field in which one can engineer the art of producing the product which are required.
