    A chemical engineer is involved in the process of designing and development of a varied range of products. He applies his technical skills to convert the raw materials into the useful products.

    Employment of chemical engineers is projected to grow 2 percent from 2014 to 2024, slower than the average for all occupations. Demand for chemical engineers services depends largely on demand for the products of various manufacturing industries. The ability of these engineers to stay on the forefront of new emerging technologies will sustain employment growth.

    As a final year chemical engineering student, I think this is the most beautiful field of engineering. Job availability in this fields is good. In India, jobs are there but of some minimum packages. Often few government industries like Hpcl, OICL, GAIL, shall offer packages up to an average of 10 lacs. But, coming to private sectors, engineers work in production, design and process control industries. Most private production industries like Jindal steel, Supreme, Lupin, Berger paints, Asian paints offer packages for freshers up to 4 lacs. So that gives an idea about the fresher.
