What are the major differences between IT and CSE? Why CSE is more preferred over IT?

dear, i dont think there is much difference in cse and IT . Companies came for recruitment always ask for both . but there is a difference in syllabus hence as far as job prospective is consider there is no difference .only a little bit difference in study material.
