Hi Mahima, cartoon design does not require a minimum qualification. However, there are very rare structured programs available to do that. You can go for BFA Illustration if available anywhere - try JJ School of Art Mumbai, maybe. Yes, cartoon design can be a stepping stone to animation film design.

Cartoon designing is a skillful and creative field, where you put reality to the imagination and vice versa. Your understanding with the subject of art design and drawing needs a good hand. In the end, if your illustrations are significant enough to convey your ideas, it means you are doing well.
