Being in a general category you need at least score 55 marks in each subject that is in total 275 minimum marks to keep yourself secured for a decent IIT college. Hope this will help you somehow.

The minimum rank and marks required to get into a good IIT through JEE Advanced can vary from year to year, depending on the number of candidates appearing for the exam, the difficulty level of the exam, and the number of seats available at each institute. According to 2022 official data, the minimum marks in Joint Entrance Examination advanced required to get into Indian Institutes of Technology is 75 marks for Other Backward Class category candidates and 85 to 90 marks for general category candidates. So you can make an idea from this data for upcoming years. For more details, you may visit the Shiksha JEE Advanced exam page. (https:

  • Basically good IIT definition depends on you. Well from my side, older IITs namely IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee, IIT Madras and IIT Guwahati are generally considered as good IITs. For getting into any of these 7 IITS, with a decent branch such as "CS, EE, ECE (Only in IIT KGP), Mech, and others too. " you need a minimum marks 200 out of 360. This will give you a general rank under 2500 which can help you get in those 7 IITs. So, I would only say aim for the rank to be below 2000 and All the Best.
