    (a) Number of Indian private sector jobs are many fold higher in comparison of government jobs. Most of the government IT jobs are support roles with limited career progression opportunities. Government jobs are available in few IT organisations such as NIC, CDAC, NSG, Ministries, PSUs, etc. It is extremely difficult to get government job. (b) Salary and perks are higher in private sector jobs in comparison to government sector job. (c) Private sector IT professionals progress is based on meritocracy whereas government sector its based on experience and number of years of service.     Hello,
    It is much unappropriated to compare IT -Sector Job and a Government job. These two sectors are absolutely valuable and have the separate pros and cons.
    (#) Government Sector; in government sector, the biggest advantage is that you will get the job Security. During job and after job, you don't need have to worry about that. Other thing is Social Reputation. That a lot in government job. However, you need to dedicate a very large amount of time for preparing the government job exams. Reservation System is also a flaw in government jobs. No need to specify much.

  • Both government jobs as well as IT sector jobs have their own pros and cons:
    1) In case of government jobs, you can get a decent salary with attractive incentives. Whereas in an IT job, you may or may not get a good salary and incentives as that of government jobs.
    2) In recent days, IT sector kick out many people due to the advancement of technologies and so the job security is not assured.
    In government jobs, there is no such factor as many jobs are done by the people only though unskilled people would be removed from their jobs.
