What are the prospects of GATE exam and will it be beneficial for me with working experience?

I did 4-yrs degree course in Marine Engg from BITS,Pilani.There after I worked on board ships for 6 yrs.Recently I quit sea and took up job in shipbuilding industry as a manager.I am interested in doing M.Tech in the field of production.Am I eligible to appear for GATE.If so,what are its prospects?

GATE exam is the entrance exam for the masters in engineering. now a days most of the PSUs offer job o the basis of GATE rank. Your working experience will help you at the time of job interview with good GATE rank.
