The candidates who wants to appear for the HTET exam must fulfill the eligibility criteria prescribed by Board of Secondary Education Haryana (BSEH). The HTET eligibility criteria are given below:
- Level 1 (PRT for Classes 1 to 5): Class 12 pass with at least 50 per cent marks along with Diploma in Elementary Education (D.EI.Ed)
- Level 2 (TGT for Class 6 to 8): Bachelor’s Degree with D.EI.Ed or BEd
- Level 3 (PGT for above Class 8): Master’s Degree along with BEd

Depending on the teaching level, different requirements are needed to take the Haryana Teacher Eligibility Test (HTET). Candidates must have a two-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) or its equivalent in addition to a Senior Secondary (or similar) with at least 50% of the required points for the Primary Teacher (PRT) Level 1 (Classes I–V).
