Is it possible to become a lecturer with a BE degree and 10 years of IT industry experience?

Industry experience of 10 years is quite a valuable asset to be a lecturer. Your experience will surely benefit the students to a great extent.
Most of the top universities (private and government) and some of the deemed universities have a strict norm that a lecturer needs to have a Ph.D degree. However, there may be some colleges/universities which may allow you to be a lecturer provided, you complete Ph.D while teaching in the college. Most of the colleges require a Master's degree at least to qualify for a lecturer profession.

Being the lecturer in India's top engineering colleges like IITs, or NITs, is not an easy task. You have to be 'Doctorate' in that field. It means that at least you need to have P.hD in your area of specialization. If you have 10 years of industrial experience, then it is absolutely fine (as this is also the requirement), but your degree is not enough. To become a Lecturer in College, you must have completed Master's Degree program and must have qualified the examination with not less than 55% marks, if you belong to General Category. Candidates belonging to SC/ST category must have scored minimum of 50% marks in the same. In order to encourage engineering graduates to pursue Ph.D. CSIR NET is being extended to engineering students by introducing a sixth paper in engineering sciences which will be common to all areas of engineering disciplines from December, 2012. The eligibility criteria (educational qualification) for writing the test will B.E. / B.Tech or equivalent in engineering with at least 55% marks for general/OBC and 50% marks for SC/ST, Physically and visually handicapped candidates. Firstly, you have to confirm the stream or subject in which you want to become a lecturer. Once you confirm it then pursue the postgraduation as it is the minimum eligibility criteria to become a lecturer. Then you have to appear in a competitive exams named UGC NET.
