B.Tech is prerequisite for taking admission in M.Tech. But addition to that, if you want to do Masters from excellent institute like NIT or IIT you have to clear GATE.

As far as there is no skills required for that you must complete your graduate degree if you want to do it from private college and if you do it from IIT or big colleges there is an exam called GATE through which help you getting admission in that colleges.
