Established in the year 2008, IIT, Patna is one of the new IITs established by the Act of Parliament. The institute train and educate students in B. Tech in five disciplines namely, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Admissions to all the courses at the B. Tech level is made through a Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) conducted jointly by all the IITs. Candidates should check the eligibility criteria before admissions.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
-Candidates name should appear under the top 2,50,000 candidates including all he categories off JEE Advanced.
-The date of birth of candidate should be on or after 1st October, 1998. A 5- year age relaxation is provided to SC/ ST and PwD candidates.
-A candidate is allowed to have a maximum attempt of JEE Advanced of two times in two consecutive years. Seats are reserved for the students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs, physically handicapped candidates and children of defense personnel.
Since, the admissions to all B. Tech courses is based on a Joint Entrance Exam, the candidates are required to register on the official website of JEE and follow the norms listed. All the steps should be followed by candidates and upload all the documents that are required at the time of registration and bring all the necessary things required for admission, if selected. Candidates also need to bring all of these with them to college and produce all the documents for verification when the candidate accepts the seat offered through JoSAA. Given are the DOCUMENTS REQUIRED:
-Class 10th marksheet or certificate- if the date of birth is mentioned OR Birth Certificate
-Class 12th (or equivalent) marksheet or certificate
-If the student has changed his name, a gazette notification showing the change of name should be provided.
-Candidates seeking admission under the GEN- EWS category should have the GEN- EWS certificate in prescribed format in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Govt. of India. In case, the candidate fails to provide the certificate of the given date, he/ she can upload a declaration to that effect.
-Candidates seeking admission under the OBC- NCL category should also have the OBC- NCL certificate in prescribed format in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Govt. of India. In case, the candidate fails to provide the OBC- NCL certificate of the given date, he/ she can upload a declaration to that effect.
-Candidates seeking admission under the SC/ ST category should be able to provide a Caste (for SC) or Tribe (for ST) certificate as per the latest guidelines of the Govt. of India.
-Candidates seeking admission under PwD category should produce a Physical Disability Certificate (Unique Disability Identification UDID certificate or whichever of the provided form is applicable) issued by the notified authority. Medical boards are constituted at the time of admission to check the candidate's level of disability and based on their observations, the benefit of PwD category may or may not be allowed.
-Candidates seeking admission under the DS category should submit a certificate issued by respective record offices of Armed Forces Personnel.
-Class 12th passed candidates from outside of India shall be required submit a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities.
Students should carry any other document demanded by the college and reach the college at stipulated time for admissions. For students opting for hostel facilities should know that IIT, Patna has two boys hostel and one girls hostel in its campus with access to several facilities. Proper mess facilities are also provided to the residents of the hostel along with canteen and other options in the food court. However, the facilities comes with certain restriction which the students need to abide by. Most of the students have their first time stay from they parents and are confused what all to carry with them besides the study materials and documents. So here is a list to help out all the freshers:

-Bedsheets and covers
-Mirror
-All bathroom essentials (bucket, mug, towel, soap)
-Toiletries
-Table Fan/ stand fan
-Organizers
-A kettle/ induction and pan for tea or coffee
