Hi Smriti, American universities do not award or recognize the MBBS. In the US medical studies are only done at the graduate level. Undergraduate students complete BS degrees in chemistry, biochemsitry, biology or other science related fields, then take a difficult examination, the MCAT, and apply for admission to Medical schools that require four years of graduate study and award the MD or DO degree. Admission to med school is very competitive - you must have a 3.6 / 4.0 or better average in a series of difficult science courses to be admitted. Also, there are very few scholarships for medical students, so most students must pay the fees, which can be $50,000 USD per year or more for each of the four years. Harvard Medical School is of course one of the best medical schools in US. American medical schools offer very few opportunities to foreign students as they have high number of local applicants to cater to. Some of them can only admit US citizens only legally. There are no scholarships for international students too, so even if you do get in, you should be ready to cover the entire cost of your medical training. Washington University in St. Louis, School of Medicine is another good school you can look at along with Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore. Duke University School of Medicine, School of Medicine at University of Pennsylvania, UCSF School of Medicine, and Columbia, Yale, and Cornell are good too.
