What are the various careers offered in event management?

<p>An event can be of many different types and the event management industry is immense. From award shows to fashion shows, from birthday parties to Bachelor parties, from engagement parties to wedding receptions, from social gatherings to office parties, all these events need to have an event manager for the smooth proceedings of the said events.</p><p>&nbsp;Numerous other such events would require an event manager specialized in that event type. An event manager would not only need to run the event successfully but is also responsible for all things involved with the event from food and beverages to the performances, from the light and sound systems to the car parking, and so on. Usually, there are event management companies with an entire crew trained to handle certain events depending on how many people are invited to the event.</p>

There are plenty of jobs in this industry. The event management industry has continued to grow in leaps and bounds. There are plenty of events: weddings, birthday parties, talent hunt and reality shows, fashion and cultural shows, academic and sports meets, religious functions, corporate events, conferences and so on. Talented youngsters who want to leave their mark in this industry have numerous avenues. You can join an event management company or a media house that specializes in event management activities. Once you have garnered ample experience, you can either start working in the capacity of a freelancer or even set up your own events business. An organization that is into event management business offers numerous positions to job seekers. The following are some of the departments in a typical event managing company: Public Relations: Manages a vast gamut of people ranging from clients, artists, stage performers, and government officials, public and so on. Promotion and Marketing: For promoting the image of the organization and also for marketing the event to the public at large. Brand Development: A talent pool that is responsible for managing client requirements pertaining to brand restructuring. Designing: Team of creative people who visualize and then prepare design layouts for the stage, costumes, and accessories and so on. Administration department: that is responsible for back office and general administrative tasks. Production: Team comprising of media professionals who manage the production and editing of audio video related media. Printing Department: that takes care of printing all sorts of marketing collaterals and promotional items.

Some of the job positions/designations available for an event management professional are Event Planner Event Coordinator Event Production Head / Team member Public Relations Officer Event (Budgeting & Finance) Executive Event Legal Executive, etc. Event management has emerged as a very lucrative and most sought-after industry in recent years. With the number of individuals/companies hosting and organizing events going up at a rapid pace, has resulted in a huge demand for a qualified event manager, who have the necessary skill-sets required in visualizing concepts, planning, budgeting, organizing and executing events. However, since the supply of well-qualified, professional event managers is still not sufficient to cater to the ever-rising demands of this industry, there are greater employment and earnings opportunities for professionals aiming to enter this field.
