Mass communication is the communication of information to a large group of heterogeneous and anonymous people. Simply, it is a means of communication to reach the mass audience. In India, there are many good colleges for mass communication and journalism. The various courses that are available in mass communication are: 1)Degree programs 2) certification courses and 3)Diploma courses. The degree courses can be in both UG and PG like BA, B.Sc, BA (Hons.), MA, M.Sc, etc. in mass communication or together with journalism. The Diploma courses are also in UG and PG like Diploma, advanced Diploma, etc. The certification courses are short-term courses related to mass communication and that would include video editing, sound editing, etc. All these courses don't differ much in the content but they differ from the amount of information conveyed. The degree courses are said to be long-term courses and they give the maximum information about the course in depth. One can get a sufficient knowledge of the subject. The Diploma courses, on the other hand, provide the subject matter in an organized way but they would not be that much in depth as compared to a degree. The certificate courses are short-term courses and so they might give a little knowledge over the course and one needs to put in a lot of effort to improve it. So, ultimately, all these differ in the way of teaching and education.
