Eleven students from Lovely Professional University have been selected as a part of the Indian contingent that will represent the country at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, scheduled to be held from 23rd July to 8th August 2021. The players will represent the nation in Wrestling, Hockey Athletics and Paralympics. This is the highest number of students ever to get selected to any Indian Olympic contingent, from an Indian Private University. Means hockey team captain Manpreet Singh, who is an LPU student, will be India's Flag Bearer for the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics. Six other\ players of the Indian Means Hockey Team are LPU students. LPU students will represent the nation in Wrestling, Hockey, Athletics (Javelin Throw and Sprinting) and Paralympics. Neeraj chopra won gold medal, Bajrag Punia won bronze in wrestling, Indian men hockey team had 8 LPU students won bronze medal. LPU believes in all round development of its students so equal importance is given to academics as well as sports here. Sports persons are also provided with scholarships. The campus of LPU houses 5 playgrounds (157062 Sqm) adjacent to boys hostels and girls hostels provide immediate access to cricket grounds, football grounds, hockey grounds, basketball courts, boxing rings, volleyball courts, skating zone, etc. Snooker lounge, in-house bowling complex, With 4 lanes and tens of arcade games, roller skating rink. Etc. Many sporting events of the given sports are conducted here: Cricket, Football, Badminton, Handball, Javelin throw, Shot put, Athletics, High jump, Shooting, Archery, Wrestling, Boxing, Hockey, Rugby, Tennis, Table Tennis, Basketball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Baseball, Fencing, Squash, Swimming, Weightlifting and so on. It also has the Shanti Devi Mittal Indoor Stadium here has multifarious facilities under one roof which include 6 Squash Courts, 1 Basketball Court, 3 Volleyball Courts, 12 Badminton Courts, 1 Shooting Range (25 Lane), 3 Swimming Pools, 1 Fully equipped Gym, Weightlifting Room, Chess Room, Yoga Room, and Aerobics room, Taekwondo arena, etc.

Many sporting events of the given sports are conducted here: The university has Volleyball, Basketball, Handball, Baseball, Softball, Hockey, Kho-Kho, Athletics - Cross Country, Chess, Cricket, Kabaddi, Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Badminton, Taekwondo, Squash, Judo, Weight Lifting & Power Lifting, Netball, Boxing, Air Pistol Shooting, Archery, Swimming. Apart from that Wrestling, Boxing, Hockey, Rugby, Kho-Kho, Baseball, Fencing, Squash, Weightlifting are also practiced. The LPU Swimming pools facilities are available to all the students of the university and the students can opt for the swimming pool at the time of admission itself. These indoor swimming pools are massive in size and are kept clean by the University Staff regularly. The boys and girls will have separate indoor swimming pools. It also serves as a great facility for those who want to learn swimming, as it is accessible to all LPU students. It is located inside LPUs amazing Indoor Stadium where a student can practice a large variety of sports like Badminton, Basketball, Shooting, Boxing, and whatnot! LPU even conducts many National and International Swimming championships which witness the world's the finest Swimmers compete against each other. Along with your studies, you can take up swimming as your hobby or favorite sport and emerge out to be competent and an all-rounder!

Other than academics, LPU is adding is bringing home laurels even in the field of sports. Last year, eleven LPU students won Olympics medals including Neeraj Chopra, a Javelin Throw athlete who bragged a GOLD MEDAL for India at the Tokyo Olympics 2020 after 121 years! We are still in shock and numbed by the exhilarating and miraculous performance thrown by this LPU student who not only made us but the whole of INDIA proud! During my post-graduation I got 100% scholarship on the basis of achievements in sports and it continued till last semester of my MBA. I represented LPU in AIU level and won gold medal. LPU has excellence in education but also in sports. The university also pays a major attention on extracurricular activities. Not only sports but dancing, singing, acting and all the other activities. When it comes to sports, LPU has a dedicated sports complex for the students to participate and nurture their skills, along with great and experienced coaches to teach them. LPU also allows the students to represent the university in the national and international levels. LPU itself has conducted many AIU matches in the campus. Sports are something that an individual looks to pursue to have enjoyment along with a sense of self-belief and competition. LPU helps in bringing out the sportsperson in you. There are many sports facilities available in LPU: Cricket Football Badminton Handball Javelin throw Shot put Athletics High jump Shooting Archery Wrestling Boxing Hockey Rugby Tennis Table Tennis Basketball Kabaddi Kho-Kho Baseball Fencing Squash Swimming Weightlifting You name it, LPU has it. Also, LPU provides Scholarships for Sportsperson. Also, if you have played nationals before admission and that also at least 2 years prior, then you are eligible for a 100% Scholarship as well.
