If you wish to pursue B.Tech then you'll have to write JEE Mains and if you wish to get M.Tech from NIT, you'll have to write GATE. Other than that, there is a scheme called DASA for NRI students admission into NITs.

There are mainly two ways to get into NITs:
    1) By writing JEE Mains and Advanced.
    2) If you are an NRI, you can get into NITs through the Dasa Scheme (the fee is very high).
