    The pre-requisites for an M.Phil. degree make it the most progressive research degree preceding the PhD degree. In addition, the degree is also termed as the “thesis-only” degree commonly.
    The degree is recognized as a senior or second Master's degree, standing in between the degrees of Master's and PhD. One can opt for this research degree after completing the Master's degree from an affiliate college or institute.
    The M.Phil. degree is awarded to graduate students, after attaining original research for several years but right before the dissertation. In simple words, the degree may act as a provisional enrolment for the PhD degree.
