A fine arts degree can lead to a career as an art teacher, writer, fine artist, art director, or actor. A fine arts degree incorporates instructional hours along with practical experience. Students with a fine arts degree can major in ceramics, creative writing, graphic design, painting, photography, theater or another fine arts discipline. Students graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts BFA have completed a course load that's two-thirds arts classes - whether in visual arts or writing - because the BFA is an artist's professional degree. By comparison, a Bachelor of Arts programme with an art major has a course load that is about one-third arts classes. According to the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design, the BFA degree prepares students well for professional careers in the arts. Most programs include classroom courses along with many hours of creative practice.
