It entirely depends upon on your efforts. Although some individuals believe that a 7 CGPA must be maintained, 8 CGPA placements have been proven to be typical. Well, there are couple of companies that demand high CGPA but most of the companies don't stress on that. They SEE how a person presents oneself, conduct oneself in a interview. For campus placement at LPU, one has to register oneself for placements. You pay a fee of Rs 10000. Once the university enrols in the placements, you have to attend PEP, (professional enhancement programme) classes. The classes are aimed at improving the student's soft skills, communication skills, cognitive skills, verbal ability and analytical ability. Every student is given couple of chances. I feel it completely depends upon the skills and the efforts you give to your studies. If you have skills and works experience then definitely any company would prefer yours. But as some companies do have a demand for good CGPA hence for those you need to at least score more than 7 CGPA overall. And as far as I know, 8 CGPA is considered as average for many companies, But still, LPU has good placements records for many years and they have been placing their students even in this pandemic. And placements are still live in LPU. They prepare their students for placement have them in cracking interviews hence you don't need to worry much just prepare well and work on your skills. And even in this pandemic During the 2021-22 placement season, the number of offers peaked at a herculean 7200+ and counting, surpassing all the other premier institutions in the country. Lovely Professional University has set the notion of super dream placements a reality for aspiring Vertos. The placements at LPU keep getting better despite the ever-growing reigns of the pandemic, while the other institutions are still shaken by the soaring effects of the coronavirus outbreak. LPU saw participation from over 650 companies in recent 2020 placements and saw a great jump in the highest package that reached 42 LPA. The highest stipend also touched Rs 80,000 for the final placements in 2020. Keeping up with its high standards, over 550 national and international companies visited the campus this year including Hewlett Packard, Amazon, Abbott, IBM, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Google, and Microsoft.

Dear Sameeksha, I suppose that you are still in the first or second year of your engineering. Because once you reach your final years you will learn how CGPA matters. What role CGPA have in placement? SEE CGPA is the only criteria set to make students sit in companies as per their choice. It's like some company X came to LPU with a package of 12 LPA and says we need students above 7 GPA and No reappears. Anyone above that line would be treated the same as other irrespective of how much CGPA you have. And some other company Z comes with 3 LPA and asks for students with 7 GPA and above without any active backlogs. The thing is you can sit in both if you have 7+ CGPA cracking the interview is all dependent on you not based on your CGPA. Your CGPA might create some kind of interest in the interviewer (rarely) that they expect more from you in the interview and still pay you the same as others. Some companies might even offer more than 7 LPA with a very low CGPA bar. So the thing is CGPA is like a Key for the GATE to a huge treasure. Many have the keys to open the GATE but only a few solve the puzzle to take the treasure. A good CGPA of 7.5 above (as of now companies increased their bar) without any reappears would easily allow you to give you an opportunity. And it's OPPORTUNITY ONLY not the result. Only your hard work and dedication would fetch you the result. So learn things don't study them. Be confident and trust yourself. ALL THE BEST.

I am pass out student of LPU, I would say If you want to score good CGPA in any programme, be regular in your class, don't miss the lectures because if you maintain more than 90% attendance, you will get marks. Now marks of all four section will be added and it will decide your final TGPA of semester. Your total marks will added and final grade is depends upon the performance of other students in that subject. If the highest score in that subject is low then your grade will be high even if your marks is less and vice-versa. Believe me guys, once you get shortlisted to sit in a company, CGPA doesn't matter at all. But, concentrate more on the word SHORTLISTED. If you are not shortlisted, you will not be able to even sit for the company exam. That's the reason CGPA becomes the most important thing in university. Now, here the tricky part. What if you are always getting shortlisted but you don't have the skills which companies actually want from you, You don't have that personality, that aura, that technical knowledge or those coding skills? In my batch, I have seen both types of students. One was those who were unable to appear in much of the companies because of CGPA issues but when they got even 1 chance they bagged the Job. Second types were those who were always getting shortlisted for each company but still were getting rejected from companies because they lacked those skill set which company wanted. So to conclude, I would say, CGPA holds importance till you are shortlisted for a company. After that, during interviews/GD's/Case Studies, companies will not care if you are a 10 pointer or 7 pointer. So, try maintaining a balance between studies and extra co-curricular activities. Build your coding skills if you want to get into software company. Build your public speaking skills and Team working skills if you want to work in a consultancy firm. Build your core technical knowledge other than that of course books if you want to get into core company of your respective branch. Keep in mind, studying for CGPA and studying for knowledge are two different things. I have seen people having high CGPA, still lacking basics. I have also seen people with low CGPA but having great technical knowledge. You will score between 6.5 to 8 CGPA for sure to maintain a balance in these mentioned criteria. Good Luck!

Shortlisting criteria for placement always differ from company to company. It purely depends upon the requisite Job profile or domain of that particular company. As per my knowledge, companies always keep shortlisting criteria nominal instead bare minimum. As per my understanding before talking about final placement one should consider about steps of getting shortlisted in campus placement drive where CGPA plays an important role. As per my experience, CGPA kept as nominal by most of the companies as shortlisting criteria. Final Placement depends upon many other parameters set by the prospective employer as per the requirement of that particular job profile. LPU always considers student's career interest / pathway in following 4 ways, 1)Corporate Job 2)Government Job 3)Higher Studies 4)Entrepreneurship Students just need to select their pathway elective subjects to continue with their placement related trainings. Accordingly students are provided with PEP (Professional Enhancement programme) classes from the very first semester with which students all round development like Soft Skill, Interpersonal Skill, Combination Skill etc. LPU possess dedicated 3 Nos. Although Percentage and CGPA play a very important role in campus selection they cannot be said to be the sole criteria. It all depends on your hard work, efforts, and dedication you are putting in to avail the best suitable career option. Being an alumnus of LPU, I very well know the efforts LPU puts in to get their students placed with top MNC's. LPU even has a Centre for Professional Enhancement which specifically focuses on Verbal ability, Analytical Skills, Presentation, and soft skills of students by including various Mock tests, GDs, Mock Interviews, etc. LPU has always focused on exposing their students through grand panels of industry leaders through various Industrial visits, Competitions, Live Projects, Conclaves etc. And all just for bright careers of their young minds. LPU students have been even placed with a maximum package of 42 LPA to an average of 3-4 LPA as well. No doubt, all the students can't avail the maximum package but why to just focus on the average.
